Evil Engines started in Jackson, MS in 2013 after longtime friends Brad Walker and Lindley McKellar became roommates. Surprisingly, the two had not worked together on a project before. Notable bands in which Walker played for include Storms For St. Louis, Tuff Luvs, The Roos, Supercrush, and Soft Toys. McKellar played in Raw Deals, Atomic Brains, and the final incarnation of one of Jackson's first new wave bands founded in the early eighties, Used Goods. The duo added a drummer and played their first show at Morningbell Records. While Walker and McKellar shared common influences, each brought new sounds to the table which melded into their unique form of rock n roll with punk and post-punk in its fabric. The band began to play regionally on small tours leading up to the addition of Brian Whitfield on drums. Among various projects, Whitfield served as drummer for Hattiesburg MS's Amazing Energy. Whitfield's skills on the drums upped their game. In 2017, the Evil Engines debut self-titled LP was released on longtime local label Blahll! Records. The band followed up their first LP with a Midwest/Northwestern tour in 2018 and a Southeastern tour in 2019. In 2021, the band recorded what would become their newest single "Straight To My Soul" and the EP " Into the Light". In the spring of 2022, Evil Engines will embark on a tour in support of the new EP.
